Adolescent Treatment – Extraction

(Teeth Pulling To Create Space)

(All cases below were treated by Dr. Angolkar over the last 15 years)

The comprehensive orthodontic treatment is broadly divided into two groups: Non-Extraction and Extraction. In the former we prevent extraction of permanent teeth and in later extractions are needed to create room on the jaw bones. The room created by extraction of teeth is closed fully before removing the braces.

At our office we try to prevent extraction of teeth as much as possible to preserve integrity of arches and give broad smiles. However, to accomplish the goal of Non-Extraction treatment we need active growth and use of some accessories to braces to create space or address bite problems. Following are examples of Non-Extraction and Extraction treatment in our office.

Extraction treatment: Permanent teeth are extracted in various combinations depending on the problem. Generally speaking four teeth need extraction to even left and right as well as upper and lower. Sometimes extraction of only two teeth is upper arch is possible in some cases. Following are example of various extraction combinations.
