Our Orthodontists will walk you through your treatment options during your complementary consultation.
Fixed Braces
Involves using fixed brackets and arch wires. Gentle continuous forces are used to move and align teeth in the jaw bones.
Accessories
Expanders
Used to expand or stretch jaw bones.
Herbst Appliance
Used to correct overbites/overjets. This device has replaced headgear. Our practice does not employ the use of headgear.
Rubber bands
Used to align the bite. Braces straighten the teeth on each jaw bone and rubber bands bring upper and lower teeth into an even bite.
Retainers
Used to retain the orthodontic results. Our teeth constantly move throughout our life. Retainers help to keep teeth in aligned position.
Why traditional braces over other options?
Braces are often preferred over other options, like clear aligners (i.e., Invisalign, Spark, Angel), when dealing with complex orthodontic issues or when more precise tooth movement is needed. Braces can apply stronger, more consistent force, making them suitable for cases where Invisalign might not be effective, such as rotating teeth or paralleling roots.
What ages are braces for?
Many children and teens wear braces, but adult braces are common, too. In fact, about 20% of all orthodontic patients in the United States are over the age of 18.
You’re never too old for orthodontics. That said, the best time for braces is generally between the ages of 9 and 14. At this point, your jaws and facial bones are more malleable (flexible) because they’re still developing. Adult braces are just as effective, but it might take a little longer to achieve the desired results.
NiteGuide
Niteguide is a removable device used to guide teeth into proper position in growing children.
This is offered as a preventive/interceptive treatment when patients still have baby teeth.
What is NiteGuide?
Nite-Guide® is a unique early treatment device for the 5-7 year old child. Nite-Guide® is worn passively at night to correct and prevent overbite, overjet, crowding, open-bites and allows for up to 4mm of arch expansion. Nite-Guide® is a preformed, self-opening appliance, designed for the baby dentition to allow erupting upper and lower adult front teeth to be guided in straight.
Nite-Guide® also increases the size of the jaw in the area of the front teeth to help adult teeth grow in straight while expanding the arch. One appliance is used during the primary dentition and a second appliance is used during the mixed dentition to allow for maximum arch expansion and eruption guidance. Guiding adult teeth in straight allows the fiber bundles to develop into this perfect Class I Occlusion, thus eliminating any relapse later in life.
